King Solomon's Christian Academy

Academics:

Two’s:
Our Two's Room staff are dedicated to creating a nurturing, loving environment for your child.
Our Preschool Two’s are very inquisitive learners! The light shines on their faces as they make new discoveries each day. At KSCA we build on their curiosity while allowing a structured routine. Consistency is very important to their day.

We use the ABeka Nursery Two Year Old Curriculum which features the introduction of letters, numbers, weekly themes, and Spanish. Our teachers are trained to allow your child to experiment and interact with his or her environment while meeting critical academic, developmental, and social milestones needed to become lifelong learners.

We achieve this through singing songs, telling stories, playing games and completing daily art projects. All of this enhances vocabulary skills, language development and sensory motor skills.
Our program is committed to support school readiness and exceeds Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Learning, developed by the Virginia Department of Education (2007).

Three’s:
Our Three’s Room staff are dedicated to creating a nurturing, loving environment for your child.
Our Preschool Threes are very excited learners!

Pre-literacy and mathematics are introduced that will help build foundational skills needed for educational success. Fine motor skills are critical at this age, and our three year old curriculum emphasizes cutting, holding pencils correctly and even tracing and writing letters and simple words.

We use the ABeka Nursery Three Year Old Curriculum which emphasizes phonics to help introduce each letter of the alphabet in a unique order and style. Mathematical skills are developed as well. We introduce a different number each week, the concept of few and more, tall and short, and time and space.

Large motor skills are also emphasized in our full size gymnasium and state of the art playground. Our teachers encourage children to hop on each foot and catch and bounce balls. All of this excitement will help your children succeed academically and socially throughout life.

Our program is committed to support school readiness and exceeds Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Learning, developed by the Virginia Department of Education (2007).

Pre-Kindergarten 4’s:
Our Pre-Kindergarten Room staff are dedicated to creating a nurturing, loving environment for your child.

Four and Five year olds are like sponges, soaking up the world around them. We believe that this is the time to introduce your children to skills that will not only prepare them for Kindergarten success, but will allow them to be confident and independent when they reach Kindergarten.

We use the ABeka K4 Four Year Old Curriculum. Literacy skills are developed through sight word recognition and repetition. Letter sounds and phonics are met through educational learning centers, group lessons, and individual guidance.

Mathematics is reinforced and explored and your child will learn and understand how to apply new math skills and patterns daily. In addition, the use of math manipulatives encourages the understanding of money and time.

Your child will explore and make discoveries through science experiments and social studies concepts. Our Pre-Kindergarten program fosters an excitement toward learning, and allows you to follow up with the schools lessons at home and make that critical connection with your child, because learning does not stop when school is over!

Kindergarten:
Our Kindergarten Room staff are dedicated to creating a nurturing, loving environment for your child.
In our half day and full day private Kindergarten programs, your child will have the opportunities to focus on and master critical skills needed for first grade. Through guided practice, hands-on learning, inquiry, and structure, our Kindergarteners program exceeds the standards set by the state of Virginia and allows our students to become independent learners.

We use the ABeka K5 Five Year Old Curriculum that gives each child the skills needed to master reading through sight word books and the phonetic skills to sound out stage two sight words. The focus on beginning and ending sounds, vowels and constants, and rhyming words will build your child’s confidence and develop a love of reading to become a successful learner. Students also develop their language arts skills through journals, handwriting, and shared reading.

The hands on mathematics curriculum teach your child to become a problem solver and apply math to their daily lives. The use of manipulative such as base ten boards, “Judy” clocks, and number lines will provide your child with both time-tested traditional and innovative methods for solving mathematical equations and problems.

Real world connections to science and social studies are integrated into our curriculum. Through textbooks, newspapers, science experiments, and using nature and the world around us as tools, our Kindergarteners are discovering more about the world around us.

We believe in the old but true anonymous saying, “All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in Kindergarten.” At our school, this quote is shines true!

Our program is committed to support school readiness and exceeds Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Learning, developed by the Virginia Department of Education (2007).

After Kindergarten and School Age Programs:
Our After Kindergarten and School Age staff are dedicated to creating a nurturing, loving environment for your child.

Our After Kindergarten and School Age Programs are accommodating programs designed for the parent that requires a service that includes either taking their child to, or picking up their child from school for children attending an elementary school in the vicinity of our center. Transportation is provided for children in Kindergarten through Elementary School.

King Solomon’s Christian Academy understands that school-aged children need to be in a supportive environment that sets the tone for the start of their school day and that also provides an outlet for their energy at the end of the day.

The morning session consists of both social and quiet activities, such as reading, table toys, and games. Time is scheduled for the children to organize their school materials, as well as themselves, prior to their departure for school.

The afternoon schedule includes a snack, daily quiet time for supervised homework or recreational reading, and additional planned activities. Our School Age teachers guide our students through problem solving and help make homework time an enjoyable experience. Recess, sports, music and dancing, dramatic play, puzzles, board and card games, team time, and cooperative games are also part of their day to encourage a supportive classroom community. In addition, we offer theme-related activities such as arts and crafts projects, cooking activities, and organized club time to round out their afternoon.

Our programs help children explore, discover, make new friends, and learn new skills led by our friendly, enthusiastic staff and convenient and extended hours.

In the summer time, we kick into high gear with our exciting Summer Camp!

Summer Camp:
Our Summer Camp program features a unique selection of indoor and outdoor activities and field trips that take advantage of resources in the local area. Our Summer Camp Program begins with the conclusion of the school year and runs until the next school year begins. We also offer optional specialty programs during regular camp hours that cater to any interest every week.

Our campers jump into action, participating in exciting sports programs, exploring nature, becoming involved in performing and creative arts, joining in group activities, and attending special events. Exciting learning and play activities are presented in weekly thematic sessions. Swimming, field trips, and special events are an integral part of the program and no additional fees are charged.

Quotes from ABeka Book:
The God-given ministry of Christian schools is to lead young people to Christ and train them in the Bible, Christian character, language, and traditional subject matter. Today’s students need to be taught the accumulated wisdom of the past from God’s point of view and trained in the way they should go (Prov. 22:6) so they will have a firm foundation from which to evaluate the present and make proper decisions for the future.

Three decades ago, God raised up ABeka Book to provide Christian schools with God-honoring, high-quality textbooks and teaching aids to help each school fulfill the goal of its ministry. The hundreds of traditional Christian educational materials developed by ABeka Book have been developed and refined over a period of 50 years in the classrooms of Pensacola Christian Academy. Christian schools throughout the nation recognize that ABeka Book sets the standard of excellence in the publishing of textbooks and other materials for Christian schools.

At ABeka Book, we are unashamedly Christian and traditional in our approach to education. The ABeka Book approach to Christian education keeps learning lively, interesting, and memorable. Our materials reflect sensible theory that is firmly anchored to practicality.
